'Live Simply' day

Today we had a 'Live Simply' day and reflection in the hall.  We had to eat a simple morning tea and lunch.  We did this to help us remember all of the people in the world who do not have enough food to eat or water to drink or many other necessities of life.

Easter Alive

What an exciting journey we took on the bus back in time to 2000 years ago when Jesus was on earth.  We watched a wonderful presentation put on at Central Baptist Church.  It truly was a wonderful experience.

A cool poem about how to subtract numbers!

Today we looked at a cool poem to help us remember when we need to 'rename' and when we don't.  I wonder if your child can explain this to you?  Mrs Wright

Oliver from Sustainable Coastlines

Today Oliver came to our school to talk about polluting the ocean.
He said ''don't throw plastic or rubbish into the sea because the sea mammals/sea animals can eat it and die."
Also, the rubbish can wash up on the sand and the birds can eat it and die. By Imogen

Times tables for maths success!

Hello families.  I have been maths testing over the last couple of weeks and I have noticed that many children now need to LEARN and know how to APPLY their knowledge of times tables to solve maths problems.  See below for an example of what I mean.  Year 4 children please start with your 2's, 5's, 10's.  For some reason 3's and 4's take a while to really 'stick' so keep practicing these lots and lots.  Year 5 children work through the rest of the tables you do not know.  Many thanks.  Mrs Wright

Rocky Shore Trip

This morning we had a wonderful trip with Mr Archer down to the Kawaroa rock pools.  We found many creatures (Not an octopus in sight) and remembered Mr Archer's advice to keep the creatures in their habitats.  The weather was great after all the rain yesterday.  We even had time for some morning tea and a play on the playground.
